Project Details:
DJM completed Underground Infrastructure projects at 3 campuses for LACCD. The Pierce College Campus Utilities / Improvements project was built to provide the installation of new underground utilities, storm drain, sewer, domestic water, fire water, irrigation, natural gas, communication ductwork, and new street lighting. This was built on an existing site to upgrade the campus utilities. The storm drain was an open-cut formed box culvert utilizing formwork that was stripped and moved by pulling the formwork (which was made with castor wheels attached) via a long rope, to the next section of box culvert to be formed. This eliminated the need to move the formwork by handing it out of the culvert thru a manhole to move it to the next area, which saved a great deal of time. The East Los Angeles College and Harbor College Utilities Infrastructure project were built to provide the installation of new underground utilities, storm drain, sewer, domestic water, fire water, irrigation, natural gas, communication ductwork, and new street lighting throughout the entire campus. Extensive coordination of campus activities and pedestrian routing was a daily exercise as well as safety precautions for students, staff, and campus visitor and venders.
